Wyman Announces Broad Bipartisan Support from Elections Officers

On Behalf of WEA’s More Conservative Members #35 Why I’ve Decided to Support Kim Wyman: Wyman Announces Broad Bipartisan Support from Elections Officers On Thursday, Secretary of State Kim Wyman announced a list of 49 current and former elections officers. Twenty-five are either Democrats, Non=partisans, or Independents and twenty-four are Republicans. It should be noted that, although her opponent has a list of elected officials that endorse her, not a single one is an elections officer. Let me make that clear! Among those current and former elections officers, the folks who are doing and have done the job of managing elections, not a single one has endorsed Wyman’s opponent. The reason, to me, seems crystal clear. Wyman’s opponent has absolutely no training or experience in running elections. Therefore, she can get no support from those who do run or have run elections. Why WEA would choose to endorse an unqualified candidate over the candidate they endorsed twice before remains a mystery to me. I urge WEA members, particularly the more conservative members to look at Sec. of State Kim Wyman. I believe you will find her eminently qualified and someone you can feel comfortable supporting. ------------ Ken Mortland is a member of WEA-Retired, continuing a long career of activism in WEA/NEA. Could This Be the Beginning of a Trend? #15 The Righteous US v. The Evil Them 7.8.20 There’s a great line, spoken by Ben Franklin, in the stage play/movie “1776”. I’m paraphrasing here, but it goes something like this…. “Revolution in the first person, our revolution, is always good. It’s only bad in the third person, their revolution.” As I look at the text of President Trump’s Mt. Rushmore speech, I see this concept in the form of an effort to emphasize an “US v. Them” scenario. On the Fourth of July, I would imagine a speech would emphasize the “WE”, but that does not seem to be the case. For example: "Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children."
